Roasterlist is the most complete directory of independent coffee roasters in the UK. Over 480 roasters, researched individually, with genuine descriptions of what makes each one worth knowing about.
We built Roasterlist because we couldn't find what we were looking for. There are plenty of "top 10" lists written by people who haven't tried the coffee. There are directories that list names and postcodes but tell you nothing useful. And there are brand-owned sites that steer you toward their own products.
We wanted something different. A place where you can find a roaster near you, understand what they're actually about, and discover ones you'd never have found through Google. Something independent. Not paid-for placements. Not sponsored recommendations. Just honest, researched descriptions of every roaster we can find.
Every description on Roasterlist comes from visiting the roaster's own website, reading about their approach, understanding their products, and writing something that genuinely captures what they're like. We don't copy their marketing copy. We don't generate descriptions from a template. We write about them the way you'd describe a roaster to a friend.
If we get something wrong, we want to know. And if you're a roaster who'd like to update your listing, the door is always open.
We're not a marketplace. We don't sell coffee. We don't take payment from roasters to appear in the directory. We're not affiliated with any roaster or coffee brand. Some links on the site are affiliate links (we'll always mark them) and we run display advertising, but these never influence which roasters appear or how they're described.
Independence is the whole point. The moment you start charging for listings, you stop being a directory and start being an advertising platform. We'd rather stay small and trustworthy than big and compromised.
Roasterlist is part of the decaffeinate.co.uk family of coffee projects. It's made independently in the UK.
No roaster pays to be listed. No brand influences our descriptions. The directory is the same whether you're a one-person operation or a national brand.
Every listing should tell you something useful. A description that reads like marketing copy serves nobody. We'd rather have 480 good listings than 2,000 empty ones.
If someone roasts coffee commercially in the UK, they should be on Roasterlist. We're not curating a "best of" list. We're building a definitive reference.
Roasters change. They move, close, merge, rebrand. We check our data and update it. If something's wrong, tell us and we'll fix it.
If there's a UK coffee roaster that isn't on Roasterlist yet, let us know. We want to find every one.
