Braw Beans

Braw Beans operates out of Peebles in the Scottish Borders, and is one of a small number of UK roasters using air roasting rather than drum roasting. The method roasts beans on a fluid bed of hot air, which removes the chaff during the process rather than leaving it in the drum where it can burn and contribute bitterness.

The result, the roaster argues, is cleaner and less acidic than drum-roasted equivalents. The operation is small and deliberately local: they offer free delivery within Peebles and to West Linton on Thursdays, and beans can be collected from Linton Bakes in Peebles town centre.

Origins rotate based on availability and growing seasons, and customers can specify their preferred roast level.
