Drury Tea and Coffee was founded in London in 1936 by three Italian brothers operating under the name Olmi Brothers Tea, initially blending and packing tea near the Windmill Theatre in the West End. They began roasting coffee for wholesale shortly after, and a move to Drury Lane in 1946 gave the company its current name.
Drury claims to be one of the first British companies to roast coffee for espresso, placing it at the centre of the country's early espresso culture in the 1950s. Now in its third generation of family ownership, the company operates from a purpose-built factory at the Royal Arsenal development in Woolwich, where a Brambati 300kg batch roaster supports annual production of over 2,000 tonnes.
More than 90% of output goes to the hospitality trade. Drury supplies customers collectively holding 30 Michelin stars, and the site includes a dedicated barista training centre.
Their coffee range runs to 16 espresso blends — one of the widest ranges of any single UK roaster — alongside 120 teas.
