Mocha Mondo Coffee has been roasting in Northumberland since 2013, when it began producing its own beans after several years of serving coffee at Alnmouth railway station. The roastery expanded its operations to a purpose-built facility at Coquet Enterprise Park in Amble and grew a team of 8.
A physical roastery and shop on site makes it a local destination as well as a mail-order business. The company has put visible effort into reducing its environmental footprint: it uses fully compostable paper cups, PLA cup lids and biodegradable straws, refills water bottles for free, and runs reverse-osmosis processed water.
Packaging is an ongoing focus, with the business continuing to work on reducing plastic across its own products and supplier inputs. The RNLI Lifeboat Blend in its range reflects a local charity connection.
