Quantum Coffee Roasters

Quantum Coffee Roasters is based in Cardiff, run by husband and wife Katia and Dimitri, and has been operating since 2015. The business started with a roastery and café in Cardiff Bay at 58 Bute Street, and opened a second location opposite Cardiff Castle in 2023.

Quantum sources from an unusually wide range of origins, including Jamaica, Hawaii, the Philippines, Yemen, Ecuador and Australia — markets that most UK roasters don't touch. A notable strand of the business is its women producers programme, which began in 2015 through a relationship with the Café Femenino Cooperative in Peru and has expanded since.

The roastery carries out its own sensory roasting and has a stated sustainability policy. It roasts on a hand-operated drum at the Cardiff Bay site.
