River Coffee Roasters is a Hampshire based roastery founded in 2018 by Will Harrigan, who spent a year working on coffee farms across Central America, from Colombia to Guatemala, before starting the business. The idea took shape while he was working on a farm in Costa Rica.
The roastery sources coffee directly from producers, paying premiums above the Fairtrade baseline and maintaining regular visits to origin. The range includes house blends such as Flow, Source, Drift and Blossom, single origin coffees from Peru and Brazil, and a decaffeinated coffee from Mexico processed using the mountain water method.
Coffee is sold online with a subscription option, alongside a wholesale service supplying cafes, restaurants, offices, catering companies and hospitality venues, which includes equipment supply and barista training. River Coffee is a Living Wage Employer, is Hampshire Fare certified and Salsa Food approved.
Packaging has moved to recyclable mono plastic bags since 2023, following a zero waste wholesale packaging scheme using reusable tubs since 2019. The company also runs a River Community programme supporting coffee growing communities and local Hampshire charities, including a partnership with the Boaz Project.
