Skylark is a Brighton-based specialty roaster operating as a registered charity (no. 1142607) and is, by its own account, the only 100% non-profit, fully transparent specialty coffee brand in existence. All profit goes to charitable causes, and the model is publicly documented.

The roastery pays specialty prices at twice the Fair Trade rate or more, then donates an additional £1 per kilo to conservation and empowerment projects at home and in producing communities. Current beneficiaries include the Knepp Wildland Foundation, which leads rewilding work in the South East, and Pro Baristas, which has trained more than 2,000 people for employment in coffee.

The roastery operates a Probat at the foot of the South Downs on the edge of Brighton. Ben Szobody, who oversees Skylark, contributed research to James Hoffmann's The World Atlas of Coffee.

The business sits within OCB Initiatives, the trading arm of One Church Brighton. Suppliers include Falcon Coffees and Raw Material.
