Source Climate Change Coffee was founded by Cristina Talens, who spent over 15 years working in ethical trade, sustainability, and rainforest protection before starting the business. Her background includes a role as Ethical Trading Manager for a major roast-and-ground company, consulting work for the UN, and time at Antislavery International, as well as field work with smallholder farmers across 14 countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
A 2009 Yorkshire Post piece documented her work with the Ashaninka indigenous community in Peru's Junin region, a 10,000-strong community threatened by illegal logging. The business operates on organic, direct-trade principles and makes a distinctive commitment: farmers are paid directly for conservation and reforestation activity, not just for coffee production.
The range spans Mexico, Nicaragua, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda, all certified organic, and includes home-compostable Nespresso-compatible capsules. At least one coffee in the range has won a Great Taste Award.
