Symposium and Sheard Coffee is a small roastery in Norwich, operating from an eco-friendly setup on the Hellesdon Park Industrial Estate that runs on clean energy rather than gas. The roastery holds Smithsonian Bird Friendly certification, a standard that requires shade-grown coffee and is among the more rigorous environmental certifications in the speciality sector, as certified farms must maintain canopy cover that supports migratory bird habitats.
The range is split into two streams: a standing espresso-style blend built from Latin American coffees the founder has sourced directly, and a Discovery range of limited release speciality lots from various origins, sourced through speciality importers. Steven, who started the business while studying Philosophy in London, built the roastery himself after returning to Norwich.
