Wood St Coffee Roasters grew out of a weekly market stall at Wood Street Indoor Market in Walthamstow, where founders Clare and Gareth Reid started serving coffee in 2014.

Wood St Coffee Roasters grew out of a weekly market stall at Wood Street Indoor Market in Walthamstow, where founders Clare and Gareth Reid started serving coffee in 2014. Roasting began in 2018 when Gareth partnered with Tim, who had previously roasted at Modern Standard before moving to Caravan and Grind, then into green coffee logistics at Caravela.
That combination of cafe operations experience and supply-chain knowledge gave the roastery an early advantage in building wholesale relationships. Head of Coffee George Bickersteth joined in 2019 and has led sourcing and roasting development since taking on the role in 2023.
The roastery now operates independently of the original cafe, which passed to Blackhorse Workshop in 2022, though Wood St continues to supply it. The business operates from Walthamstow and offers coffee classes and event hire alongside wholesale and retail.
